Letter Eighteen from the Lovely Lady Lena

It’s fall! And the leaves aren’t the only thing changing here in Schwarzenberg. My skirts are certainly getting a little tighter… but no worries because Sister Hansen and I tend to walk around 5km a day through these lovely hills. When we do drive, I drive super slow. These roads are tiny but two way streets! I’d say that I drive slow like a grandma, but this week a grandma drove us to a hospital to visit someone and she was going sooooo fast. On tiny two way roads. Curvy roads. Car sick. oh german grandmas…Oh but I did get to drive on the Autobahn for my first time! We drove to Chemnitz to do an exchange with the Sister Training Leaders. That was fun to have no speed limit! (Except the mission has a speed limit rule so pretty much it was like driving on a normal freeway). The exchange was really fun though! Except for when I accidently told a new convert that she likes to eat rodents. I meant to say that her cats (one of the 8) like to eat rodents, not her! I think she was a bit offended but I made it up with giving a great spiritual thought. Has anyone read the September Liahona? I love that story ‘Through Thin Walls’. Go read it. Stop reading this blog post…unless you want to hear about the lady who took off her pants.
We went to visit a lady who had just gotten surgery. (driven by the super fast granny) The lady wanted to show us her scars and casually stood up, pulled down her pants and sat back down. Not something I EVER wanted to see. I did not sign up for this! Haha, but its okay because once she put her pants back on do you know what we did? We shared that awesome Liahona story and the spirit came back.
The Annaberg Elders in our district had an amazing story that they shared with us this week at district meeting. They had this feeling that they should go by this contact. When they went to his apartment he wasn’t home but a lady stuck her head out of the window and invited them up. She had a table set for them to visit. She said she had been praying that someone would visit her so she made cakes, set a table, and kept praying. That’s when the Elders came! How cool is that?! I know that miracles like that do happen in Germany and because the Elders listened to their promptings they were able to be an answer to this lady’s prayer. Now that should also be a Liahona story!
This week we sang in Lauter for a ‘thanksgiving type fest’. Unknown to us, we were later featured in their newspaper as an American Singing Quartett. Flashback: In 4th grade I was told I am tone deaf. I don’t sing. Or atleast, I didn’t before my mission. Now apparently I am in an American Singing Quartet. So we took band pictures.
Oh our Monday was quite enjoyable! A member took us to a mine and to a dam. Enjoy the following pictures.
This week I turn 20. Gasp. I know. It’s crazy! Anyways, the best birthday gift ever would be if everyone sent me lyrics to songs! I can’t remember lyrics for the life of me! But I really want to remember every high school musical song there ever was.
I hope everyone has a fabulous week! I recieved an amazing letter from a reader. You know who you are (creepy winky face) and look forward to a letter! I love hearing from everyone! This is a wonderful work, thank you for the support!
Love,
Sister Helzer
