Letter Sixteen from the Lovely Lady Lena

Guten Tag Readers!

I wish I could relay some amazing miracle stories but this week was filled with a lot of finding. That’s what happens when you open up a city, you find. And find. Annnnnd find. But hey, I do have some classic finding stories! I approached an elderly lady and she started playing with my hair and explaining that she was a Jehovahs Witness but that she appreciated my work. And then she continued to play with my long locks. It was a tad bit awkward when her frail fingers got tangled in my hair. Another man I approached that day just made a noise like EEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUURUUUUUUUUUURRR and continued walking. That’s one way to reject someone.
‘Hey, you wanna go on a date this friday night?’
‘EEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUURUUUUUUURRRRRR’
‘Oh, ok. Sorry.’
And then there was Marko. We saw him at the top of this little mountain hike and felt impressed to go talk with him. We climbed up to speak with him, and we stopped panting we got to have a great discussion with him. We exchanged numbers and were super pumped to have a potential investigator! And then he texted. He confessed his love for us. Well, there goes one investigator to the Elders. Hahaha, geeze why do Sister Hansen and I just have to radiate and attract so many people? (Rhetorical question.)
The best part about finding in Schwarzenberg is that the scenery is so lovely. It is truely inspiring! The clouds are unreal, and there is a castle in the middle of the town. How can I complain about that? And the ward members are fabulous! One member likes to practice his English with us every Wednesday night at family home evening. He has great English, it is just super proper. ‘I love the clothes you don’ or ‘Here is something for the breakfast table’. I can’t help but speak with a British accent when I talk to him. Our ward mission leader is amazing, straight out of Preach my Gospel. He tries to fill up our schedule with meeting ward members and weniger aktivs. He is always so excited to here any mission story and he is filled with wonderful ideas. I think they ought to film The District 3 here in Germany and use our Ward Mission Leader as the example.
One of the members we met with this week has 8 cats. EIGHT CATS! That’s more cats than I have toes! Sister Hansen is allergic to cats so I was like the cat fighter, shoving them off of her left and right. We tried to take a picture of all 8 of them, but they kept running away. One day, one day.
I take it back, I can think of a miracle story this week! One day we were in Aue and nobody has home. We had one more person to go by but her house was impossible to find and we kept driving in circles. We debated going home because with our luck she would be gone anyways. However, we continued to search for her house. When we finally found it she didn’t answer her door. We thought about leaving but decided to give her a call. She picked up! I told her we were in the neighborhood and asked if we could stop by. She said she was home and that we could come over whenever. I told her great and that we would be there in 10 minutes. Sister Hansen and I waited outside her building for 10 minutes and then rang her doorbell again. This time she answered, let us in, and we had a great lesson! That is a great example to me about how being dilligent pays off.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day filled with Hilary Duff songs stuck in their head. Let that rain fall down!
Love,
Sister Helzer
