Have you ever bought a jar of sweet creamy nutella? A.K.A. Vitamen N. One that is so packed that it is hard to twist and turn the lid of the jar to reach inside for a taste of heaven. That is how this week was. It was filled with so many wonderful miracles and experiences that the jar is soooo jam packed I’m not exactly sure how to take off the lid and tell you everything. Put a piece of bread (or a generic oreo pop tart) in the toaster, curl up in a snuggie, and wait for this Nutella jar to explode!
The week began in Berlin, where I dropped off my darling Emily (first name basis now!) to go home and picked up Sister Cheveliar. We traveled down to Chemnitz, dropped off her suitcases, and ran to our appointment with Anja and Christina. Christina told us that she first heard about the church from a school friend. She said they would talk about religion and Christina always agreed with her friend to the point where the girl told her ‘why don’t you just get baptized?!’ Flash forward, they moved to New Zealand. Lost contact with said school friend. Met missionaries there. Came back here. Found us. I felt prompted to ask her where this school friend lived. ‘Oh you probably don’t know it. It’s a tiny town called Schwarzenberg.’MIRACLECHILDSAYWHAAAT? At this point my heart about burst through my chest. ‘I lived there! What’s her name?’ Christina told me who it was, and it turns out I knew her. Christina stood up almost in tears and repeated over and over ‘you know her? You know her?! This is just one more sign from God that this is the church I need to join.’
It felt like a movie magic moment. It’s as if my whole entire mission is coming together. All the loose ends are tieing together. There is no doubt in my mind a reason why I had to be in Schwarzenberg for so long, and why I had to come back to Chemnitz, and why it all happened when it did. If the Lord has a master plan for my mission, can you imagine the plan he has for my life? And your life?? Wahnsinn.
After this stellar appointment, we received a text from our two little EFY miracle girls. (flashback about a month ago to when two girls walked into church and wanted to be baptized because they went to EFY…does this ring any bells?) Anyways, they had gone on vacation and then we had lost contact with them but they finally reached out to us! We will be meeting with them tonight. Oh and get this, they also are tight with some of my member friends from Schwarzenberg. Coinsidence? I think not!
It was, naturally, an amazing experience to be in the room with an Apostle of the Lord. For 3 hours he talked WITH us, and the Spirit was so strong. The only way I can think to describe it would be to compare it to Monster’s Inc. Ever seen that classic? Love that movie. Well, do you remember how they supply energy by screams and everytime someone screams it fills up a canister depending on how much fear was there? Okay if we used those same scream energy canisters but instead of screaming, we filled them with the spirit, then we would have quickly filled up every canisters and we could have supplied the city of Berlin with enough energy to watch the World Cup Finale on every TV screen 24/7 for the rest of the year. Alright, that is a strange analogy, but I think you are getting my point. It was a very spiritual experience and I have no doubt that Elder Bednar is just as much of an Apostle as Peter, James, or John were.
And at last, the email must draw to an end. The Nutella jar is still jam packed with things I experienced this week, and wonderful people I got to meet. I suppose we will just have to leave it that way for the time being.
I love you all! Don’t feel shy about sending me a birthday postcard to Sister Helzer, Zerbster Str. 42, 12209, Berlin, Germany. 🙂 haha #sweetboldness
